On Sunday evening, shots were fired outside the house of Punjabi singer A.P. Dhillon on Victoria Island in Vancouver, Canada. A social media post from gangster Rohit Godara claimed he was behind the attack.
The post, which is being investigated, says the shooting happened on September 1 at two locations in Canada, Victoria Island and Woodbridge, Toronto. Godara, who is part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, took responsibility for both shootings and said Dhillon’s house on Victoria Island was one of the targets.
Godara also claimed he was responsible for the murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in Rajasthan last December. With Bishnoi in jail, Godara and Goldy Brar are running the gang from abroad.
Godara's post suggests the attack was a response to Dhillon featuring Bollywood actor Salman Khan in a music video. The post included a threat to Dhillon, warning him to stay in his limits or face dire consequences.
Salman Khan has been a target of the Bishnoi gang because of a 1998 case where he and others were accused of killing blackbucks, which are sacred to the Bishnoi community. The National Investigation Agency has listed Khan as a top target of the gang.
In April, there was also a shooting outside Khan’s home in Mumbai, and the gang had previously targeted singer Gippy Grewal in Vancouver last year.
