Open Letter Sparks Controversy
On Saturday, November 16, Tamil actor Nayanthara shared an open letter directed at fellow actor Dhanush K Raja. The two, known for working together on several films, appear to share a strained professional relationship. In her letter, Nayanthara accused Dhanush of being jealous of her success and holding a personal grudge against her and her partner, director Vignesh Shivan.
Dispute Over Documentary Footage
The conflict reportedly began when Nayanthara sought permission to use clips from the 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her upcoming Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale. Despite multiple attempts to secure a no-objection certificate (NOC), Dhanush allegedly refused, leading her team to shoot alternative footage. Following this, Dhanush issued a legal notice demanding ₹10 crore in damages for using just three seconds of behind-the-scenes content.
Nayanthara’s Claims of Hypocrisy
Nayanthara accused Dhanush of presenting a false public image. She criticized him for preaching positivity and love at events while behaving differently in private. Referring to past incidents, she alleged that Dhanush had undermined Naanum Rowdy Dhaan even before its release and was displeased when it became a success.
A Film Close to Her Heart
The film holds special significance for Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, as it is where their love story began. Despite Dhanush’s initial doubts about the film’s success, it became a hit, which, according to Nayanthara, hurt his ego.
Industry Reactions
Nayanthara’s letter received support from prominent women in the industry, including Parvathy Thiruvothu, Shruti Haasan, and Dia Mirza. Dhanush has yet to respond to her allegations.
This public fallout sheds light on their professional differences and unresolved issues, leaving fans eager to see how Dhanush addresses the accusations.
