YouTube is making changes to its Shorts feature. Starting October 15, users can create Shorts up to 3 minutes long, instead of just 1 minute. This applies to videos that are square or taller. Shorts made before this date will not be affected.
YouTube is also adding new features, like showing a preview of comments directly in the Shorts feed. Plus, users will soon be able to pull clips from any YouTube video to create remix Shorts. This tool, introduced earlier in 2024, lets people use audio, video clips, or combine their videos with existing ones.
YouTube is also adding an option to show fewer Shorts, which can be found by clicking the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the video.
At the same time, Google has announced updates to its search features using AI. These updates include better-organized search results, improvements to Google Lens, and new links and ads in AI Overviews. Google Lens will also allow users to search using voice and video, and it will offer better shopping information like product reviews and pricing.
Some of these updates are available now, and more will be rolled out soon.
