Students protested outside Drishti IAS coaching centre in Mukherjee Nagar, North West Delhi. This happened after the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) sealed the basement of Drishti IAS and several other coaching centres. They did this because the basements were being used illegally for classes.
The crackdown followed a tragic incident where three students died when a basement at another coaching centre, Rau's IAS Study Circle, flooded after heavy rain. The MCD has now sealed 20 basements in coaching centres across Rajinder Nagar and Mukherjee Nagar since the incident.
In addition to sealing these basements, the MCD is removing structures that block storm drains to prevent flooding. They are also checking other areas of the city for similar illegal uses of basements.
Prominent coaching centres affected include Drishti IAS and Vaji Ram and Ravi IAS hub. The MCD's actions aim to ensure safety and compliance with building regulations.
