An Olympian and his wife, who has won a Commonwealth medal, were told to leave their homes quickly by the Land and Development Office (LNDO). They live in an area called Khyber Pass in Civil Lines.
The LNDO said that the land they live on, which was previously owned by another group, now belongs to them. They claim the land has been taken over by squatters and has illegal buildings on it. The notice gave the residents just two days to move out and remove any illegal structures, or their homes would be demolished at their own cost.
Mr. Jung, who just returned from the Paris Olympics, was shocked to find the eviction notice. He feels it’s unfair to expect families who have lived there for 75 years to leave so suddenly. He and his wife are asking for more information and a respectful way to handle their departure.
The LNDO and the supervising Ministry haven’t responded to their requests for more details.
