The new film city near the under-construction Jewar Airport is set to create jobs for about 50,000 people directly, according to officials on Friday. They also said it will help about 5 to 7 lakh more people find work indirectly.
The YEIDA and Bayview Bhutani Film City Private Limited, a new company led by producer Boney Kapoor and the Bhutani Group, signed an agreement on Thursday to develop this project.
YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh mentioned that construction will start in the next four to six months, and film-related activities will begin within three years. He said the film city will provide opportunities for local people who want to work in films, without needing to go to big cities like Mumbai.
Singh also said the film city will create jobs for both skilled and unskilled workers. It’s expected to benefit areas from Ballia to Bijnor and nearby states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana. The film city could increase the state’s GDP by 1.5 to 2 percent.
He added that this film city will address issues seen in other film cities across India. Its proximity to Jewar Airport will reduce travel time, making it more convenient than cities like Mumbai or Hyderabad. It will have outdoor shooting locations and film institutes where young people can learn about acting and filmmaking.
Singh mentioned that the film city will have replicas of places like Himachal, Kullu Manali, and Kashmir, as well as temples, mosques, and churches for shooting scenes. It will offer accommodation in villas and backlots for shooting. Advanced technologies like sound mixing and special effects (VFX) will be part of its infrastructure.
