Google first started showing continuous search results on mobile in 2021, and a year later, they extended this feature to desktops. However, they are now stopping this feature, according to a report from Search Engine Land. Instead, Google will focus on showing search results with page numbers that users can navigate through.
A Google spokesperson mentioned that starting today, continuous search results will be discontinued on desktops. The same change will happen on mobile devices over the next few months.
On desktops, users will now see page numbers and a "Next" option below the Google logo. For mobile users, there might be a new "More results" option that loads the next page of search results. Users will need to go to the next page manually after viewing around 10 search results.
Google explained that they made this change because automatically loading search results didn't improve user satisfaction. They want to focus on serving search results faster for more searches, rather than loading results that users didn't specifically request.
