Launch of ‘WhatsApp Governance’ Service
Andhra Pradesh will begin a new service called ‘WhatsApp Governance’ today, January 30. This service will allow people in the state to access 161 government services directly through the WhatsApp app. The goal of this service is to make it easier for citizens to get documents and services without needing to visit government offices multiple times.
Available Services and Future Additions
At first, 161 services will be available, but more services will be added in the future. The services that are part of this new initiative include areas such as Endowments, Energy, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation, Revenue, Anna Canteens, Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, and Municipal Administration.
Review by Chief Minister
The new initiative was reviewed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in a meeting at the State Secretariat on Wednesday. He explained that this digital service will help citizens access government services more easily and reduce the number of steps and processes they need to go through.
Importance of Cyber security
While discussing the service, Naidu also highlighted the importance of protecting citizens’ information. He instructed officials to ensure that the data of the public is secure from cyber threats. Naidu asked for stronger measures to protect personal data and prevent misuse.
Agreement with Meta
The ‘WhatsApp Governance’ service follows an agreement made with Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, in October 2024. This agreement aims to expand public services through the messaging app. The idea is to make governance more efficient and bring it closer to the people by using technology.
Service Navigation Explained
In the meeting, officials explained to the Chief Minister how the new system will work. They demonstrated how users can navigate the platform and choose the services they need. Chief Secretary K Vijayanand and other senior officials also attended the meeting to discuss the service.
