The report from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) called "AI at Work: Friend and Foe" shows that many Indian workers feel confident about using artificial intelligence (AI) at their jobs. In India, 54% of people trust AI a lot. Also, 93% of those who use a newer type of AI called GenAI say it saves them a lot of time at work.
BCG did a big survey with over 13,000 workers in 15 countries. They found that people worldwide are becoming more confident about AI and GenAI. Forty-two percent of workers globally feel positive about how these technologies affect their jobs, up from 26% last year.
However, using AI also makes some workers worry. Nearly half of regular users fear they might lose their jobs because of these technologies in the next ten years. This concern is much lower among people who don't use AI often.
The report shows that GenAI is becoming more common in workplaces. About 64% of leaders are now using GenAI tools, and 43% of regular workers use them, which is double the number from last year.
BCG experts like Sylvain Duranton and Vinciane Beauchene say GenAI is both exciting and scary for workers. It saves time, letting people do more tasks, try new things, and focus on important work. But companies need to help workers adapt and learn new skills to make the most of GenAI.
The study also found differences between how people in different parts of the world feel about GenAI. Workers in countries like India and Brazil are more hopeful and less worried about AI compared to those in richer countries.
The report advises companies to focus on training workers well and using AI to improve work quality and job satisfaction. Leaders need to manage these changes carefully to help everyone benefit from GenAI.
