Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba is a letdown if you enjoyed the original film, Haseen Dillruba. Jayprad Desai, who directed this sequel, seems to have just wanted to make money from the success of the first movie without putting much thought into the new story.
In the first film, Vikrant Massey's character, Rishabh, cut off his own hand and pretended to be dead to protect his unfaithful wife, Rani (played by Taapsee Pannu), from going to jail for killing her ex-lover. This dramatic ending could have led to an exciting sequel, but Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba doesn't live up to that potential. The movie is slow, has a confusing plot, bad dialogue, and doesn't have a strong story to keep you interested.

The film starts in Agra, where Rani is now a makeup artist and Rishabh is in hiding, trying to arrange for them to move abroad. They can't be seen together because the police are still interested in their case. They only communicate through long phone calls, secret meetings, and messages written in quotes from a crime novelist's books, which is a bit quirky but not very practical.
There's a new character named Abhimanyu, a medical worker who is in love with Rani. He doesn't know about her troubled past with her husband. While Sunny Kaushal, who plays Abhimanyu, does well in some scenes, his character isn't fully developed.
The main actors, Pannu and Massey, and other characters like Jimmy Shergill's Monty, don't have much chance to shine because the script doesn't give them enough to work with. Shergill's character, a cop and uncle of the victim, has awkward lines that don't fit well with the story.
The film also has many illogical moments. Things happen just because the story needs them to, with events stretching believability. Characters fall in love and get married in a few days, have fun on dangerous rivers, and run into each other too often. The film's attempts to be playful with visual details and music choices can't save it from its many flaws.
Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba lacks the curiosity and excitement of the original film. The story is flat, and the emotional depth needed to engage viewers is missing. Fans of the first film might feel disappointed, though newcomers might be able to overlook some of these issues. If you liked the first movie, this sequel may not meet your expectations.
