Dhanush's film Raayan made Rs 100 crore worldwide in just eight days. It is now the third Tamil film of the year to hit this big number, following Maharaja and Indian 2.
In the Tamil film market, Raayan has no upcoming competition, which should help it earn even more. So far, it has made Rs 62.97 crore net and about Rs 72.75 crore gross in India. It's expected to soon surpass the lifetime earnings of Vijay Sethupathi's film, which made Rs 105.69 crore worldwide.
The film's goal is to beat the total earnings of Indian 2, which ended with Rs 145.53 crore. If Raayan keeps up its pace, it will surpass this amount soon. It’s also close to making Rs 50 crore just in Tamil Nadu by August 3.
Raayan is Dhanush's third film to make over Rs 100 crore, joining Thiruchitrambalam and Vaathi. It’s his fastest film to reach this milestone and is set to become his highest-grossing movie, surpassing the lifetime earnings of Vaathi and Thiruchitrambalam.
The film is Dhanush's 50th project, and he both wrote and directed it. It features actors like SJ Suryah and Prakash Raj, with music by AR Rahman.
