On this occasion, the Prime Minister also spoke to a gathering, stating that the day is setting new records globally.
PM Modi extended his greetings on Yoga Day, saying, "I greet the people of our country and those practicing yoga in every corner of the world. The number of people practicing yoga is growing worldwide."
"Yoga Day has been creating new records since its inception," he said. "International Yoga Day has now completed a historic 10-year journey. In 2014, I proposed the observance of International Yoga Day at the United Nations. This proposal from India received the support of 177 nations, setting a record in itself."
He said that over the last decade, the expansion of yoga has altered its perception. Today, a new yoga economy is emerging worldwide. In India, a fresh wave of yoga tourism is evident from Rishikesh and Kashi to Kerala. Tourists from around the globe are flocking to India to learn authentic yoga.
The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of yoga and its health benefits, adding that "Yoga serves both the individual and society."
"He said that on the occasion of the 10th International Yoga Day, he encourages everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routines."
