2025 Pahalgam Attack

On 22 April 2025, it became the site of a tragic event when Islamist terrorists affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF) opened fire on a group of tourists at Baisaran Valley. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 28 people, with more than 20 others injured. This act of violence, one of the deadliest in the region since the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status, targeted civilians and was reportedly aimed at resisting alleged demographic changes in the Kashmir Valley. The attack shocked both residents and visitors, highlighting the ongoing security challenges faced by the region.
