This new service makes the daily commute in Delhi easier and faster. Commuters can quickly buy metro tickets on their phones without any physical contact.
To use this service, people need to click on the Delhi Metro QR ticket option under the Amazon Pay tab. Then, they choose the stations they want to travel between, make the payment, and get a mobile QR ticket instantly.
At the metro stations, travelers just need to show their smartphones in front of the QR code scanner at the automatic gates to enter and exit.
DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar said, "Working with Amazon Pay for QR ticketing will make daily travel easier and more enjoyable. This new method is convenient, reduces paper waste, and helps our sustainability efforts."
Anuradha Aggarwal, Director of Amazon Pay India, said, "We are happy to bring Metro QR ticketing to Amazon Pay, making commutes easier for millions. This quick and contactless method removes the need for tokens and exact change."
DMRC Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal mentioned that around 6.5 million passengers use the metro daily. This new system will help make ticketing faster and easier.
During busy times, commuters often wait in long lines to buy tokens and need to have exact change. There is also a risk of losing or forgetting physical tokens. The QR ticketing system solves these problems, reducing ticket purchase time from 15 minutes to just 15 seconds. Additionally, customers will get special offers available on the platform.
