The latest Henley Passport Index ranking shows that India's passport is ranked 82nd. This means Indian passport holders can travel to 58 countries without needing a visa. This ranking is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which keeps track of travel information.
The top-ranking passport is from Singapore, which allows travel to 195 countries without a visa. France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain are tied for second place, with access to 192 countries. Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, South Korea, and Sweden come in third, offering visa-free entry to 191 countries.
The UK is in fourth place, along with New Zealand, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, and Switzerland. Australia and Portugal share fifth place. The US is now in eighth place, with access to 186 countries.
India’s passport, ranked 82nd, allows travel to 58 countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Pakistan is ranked 100th, allowing access to 33 countries, and Afghanistan is last, with access to only 26 destinations.

Christian Kaelin from Henley and Partners noted that the gap in global travel freedom between the top and bottom passports has grown. In 2006, the global average number of visa-free destinations was 58, and it has now nearly doubled to 111 in 2024. The Henley Passport Index has been tracking this data for 19 years and is updated regularly with changes in visa policies.
