A group of medical associations in India took legal action against yoga guru Ramdev. The Delhi High Court told Ramdev to remove his claims from social media. He had said that modern medicine (allopathy) was responsible for many deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic and that his product, Coronil, was a cure for the virus.
Coronil is made by Patanjali, a company Ramdev founded.
The court also instructed Google, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) to remove this content from their sites if Ramdev doesn’t do it within three days.
A full court order with details will be available later.
The medical groups went to court in 2021 because they disagreed with Ramdev’s statements and his claim that Coronil could cure COVID-19.
