The Traffic Sentinel mobile app is being relaunched in Delhi. The new name for the app will be 'Traffic Prahari'. The app lets people report traffic and parking violations. Users can win monthly rewards up to Rs 50,000.

App Details

The Traffic Prahari app will start on September 1. Delhi's Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, asked the Traffic Police to improve public involvement in managing traffic.

Rewards and Updates

The Traffic Sentinel Scheme (TSS) encourages people to help the Delhi Traffic Police by reporting violations. The new system will offer monthly rewards instead of the previous annual ones. Each month, the top four reporters will get prizes: Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000, and Rs 10,000. The first awards will be given out in early October based on reports from September.

Purpose and Features

LG Saxena sees this scheme as a way to involve citizens in traffic management, provide extra income, and encourage participation in governance. He also directed that the app be upgraded with new features to make it more effective.

How to Use the App

The app is available on Google Play Store and iOS App Store. Users need to register with their mobile numbers. Registered users, called "Traffic Praharis", can report violations like dangerous driving, improper parking, and red light jumping. They must provide details such as date, time, and location. The Traffic Police will verify all reports.

Review Meeting

A review meeting for the app’s updates included senior officials like the Special Commissioners of Traffic, the Transport Commissioner, the DTC Chairperson, and other important figures from MCD.
